The Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives Ministry officially launched the 22nd edition of the World Creole Music Festival during a press briefing at 6 pm on Wednesday August 10, 2022 at Petit Miami club. The three-day festival commenced on 28 October 2022 and end on 30 October 2022. This year, the festival was celebrated after two years break due to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives – Denise Charles projected that the festival brought over ten thousands tourists and music enthusiasts to the shores of Dominica. The Minister further stated that this year the celebration was much more joyful.
While briefing about the excitement among the people of Dominica, she outlined that many accommodations; makeup artists and secured early full booking. She added, “The festival created a tremendous boost for airlines, ferries, accommodations, restaurants, drinks and beverage distributors, taxis, vendors, boutiques, makeup artists, telecommunications, DJs, entertainment service providers, media, videographers, and the list goes on.”
Minister Charles has termed this festival as an investment by the government and highlighted that authorities are working tirelessly to make it a world-class event. She further thanked artists from Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Lucia, and the United States of America for showing great interest in the WCMF.
Over seventeen famous artists gave performances at the WCMF, including Shenseaa, Jocelyn Beroad, Sizzla, Coltont, Exposib, First Serenade, Christopher Martin, K- Dilak & Bed Jine, Midnight Groovers, Patrice Roberts, Admiral T, Asa Bantan, Dexta Daps, Reo, Kes. The local bands, Carlyn XP, Original WCK, Chire Lakay, Signal, Extacy, and TK Triple International displayed exceptional performances during the event.
Charles also praised the Discover Dominica Authority (Governments official investment agency department) and stated that the Authority has embarked on a series of one-on-one meetings with potential corporate sponsors to partner with the government. She said that the previous reports of the event show that it brings returns up to six times the total investment.

Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival celebrates the creole culture of creole speaking countries in the Caribbean, Europe and Africa.
